The swimsa is the voice of over 9000 medical students throughout Switzerland at the national and international level. Every semester we campaign for a public health theme chosen by our members at the federal level. Our medical students specifically address this topic during the semester in educational campaigns, panel discussions, competitions and many other events regarding this topic. In doing so, we promote interdisciplinary networking between medical students within Switzerland, exchange of ideas in the clinic and advance research. By this means, we want to sensitise students to the health of society and inspire them to become better doctors within the swimsa program because reality comprises much more than theory, exams and lectures, namely leadership, management and a big warm heart for our patients.
swimsa is the independent and politically neutral umbrella organisation of Swiss medical students. The first association of individual medical student councils dates back to 1917. Today, swimsa has over 9000 members and represents the interests of students of the faculties of Basel, Bern, Fribourg, Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich as well as the ETH Zurich on a national and international level.
